Great little sight to see and great for photos of the harbour, you can also get the Abbey in at the right angle. Lots of seating around the area and then the steps take you down to the main harbour area. It's well maintained and interesting historical point

Went to Whitby to go to Christmas market which was always great fun, past but this little monument in the search for parking which was a little bit of a nightmare to find but passing this really brought that seaside vibe, highly recommend give this a pass by if ever in Whitby and maybe plan parking before you set off
